The 35-year-old MMA Vet and now Bare Knuckle fighter Godbeer (13-5-0 MMA, 3-0 bare-knuckle boxing) didn't disappoint the fans and wasted no time when he fought in the Valor BK Heavyweight Tournament. Godbeer knocked out MMA Vet Jack “The Outlaw” May via KO in Round 1 at the 0:50 mark. He then faced Mighty Mo. Godbeer defeated Mo in the very first round after a series of punches that knocked down the current Road FC Open-weight Champion and was unable to get up in time during the 10 count. Godbeer won the tournament and become the first Heavyweight Champion under the Valor Bare Knuckle Inc. (VBK™) banner.
“I've watched and fought alongside Lavar for many years. This is a fans dream match up,” Mark “The Hand Of” Godbeer said. “You take out everything else, kicks takedowns etc. you have in MMA your left with two guys the mirror image of each other, un-gloved KO artists. The thing that excites me about this fight is its the adrenalin junkies best fix! And I thrive off it.”
After five years in the sidelines, the 42-year-old MMA Vet Johnson (18-10-0 MMA, 1-0 bare-knuckle boxing) returned to action debuting in a Bare Knuckle bout at VBK 1. He took on James McSweeney that night and defeated him via KO in Round 1 at the 0:27 mark. Johnson began his MMA professional career since 2004 and has competed for the UFC, the WEC, Strikeforce and Bellator MMA.
Lavar “Big” Johnson states: “They say styles make fights. Mark Godbeer is a kill or be killed type of fighter and so am I. It's going to be a hell of a show!”
